It’s time to learn from the best
Abbie joined us in 2021 as a student in our Barbering Academy, and she’s now joined us as a full-time barber!
Abbie found out about our Skins and Needles Barbering Academy through a friend and decided to join us on our 4-Week Beginner Barbering course!
She loved how hands-on the course was and the amount of real-world experience she received during her time in the barbershop. Working in a barbershop whilst training gave Abbie a look into the feel, atmosphere, personalities and customers she would be surrounded with on a daily basis – it allowed for a smooth transition into her new role with us.
Abbie found finding new clients and building a clientele, but through consistency, support from our Marketing Manager and being committed, she’s well and truly built her base in the heart of Middlesbrough.
When we asked Abbie what she would say to someone wanting to start the course, she said ‘Do it! It’s the best thing I ever did, it’s so much fun and I can’t imagine doing anything else now.’
Following her training with us, Abbie is now employed in Skins and Needles Barbers as a full-time barber, and has even helped out training some of our newer students.
Our Barbering Academy is there to not only support aspiring barbers into the industry, but help them dominate in their field. With skilled professionals in barbering, marketing and business, we’re able to help our students excel further than any other barbering schools around.
Harvey joined the Skins and Needles Barbering Academy as an aspiring barber, and we gave him the opportunity of a lifetime.
Harvey joined us in 2022 in our Barbering Academy, and has been with us ever since.
Following our Head Barber Laura in his training, Harvey quickly found his place within the business and has excelled both personally and professionally. Starting in the business at only 17, he has picked up the motivation to push himself and his talents.
His favourite part of the 4-Week Beginner Barbering Course was doing hot towel shaves on clients and skin fades, he loves to develop his skills and is always pushing to do more.
In the Barbering Academy, Harvey loved that you could experiment with different hair styles, types and techniques to help hone his craft. His concentration on the course has helped him push his career through the roof so early on, with his books regularly full and his client base already booming.
Harvey found scissor cutting a challenge, but through close training, advice and support – he had it sorted in no time!
When we asked Harvey what he would say to anyone wanting to start the course, he said ‘You should do it because you learn all the different aspects of barbering in the space of 4 weeks! If you’re wanting a career change, it’s the best way to do it!’
After completing the course, we agreed to take Harvey on as a junior barber to help him further, and he currently works in Skins and Needles Barbers!

Kieran’s story of Achieving Success through Education
Kieran joined us in 2022 for our 4-Week Beginner Barbering course and absolutely flew through the course!
After following Skins and Needles online for a few years, he finally decided to take the leap and join the team in our cutting-edge education facility.
Kieran loved the course and ‘was gutted when it came to end’, after a couple of days into the course he realised that he was destined to be in this industry.
The most challenging part of the course for Kieran was cutting longer hair, ‘but Laura was so helpful in explaining an showing me how to overcome this challenge’.
Since finishing the course at Skins and Needles, Kieran is currently employed on a part-time basis but is hoping to move full-time into the sector soon.
